Earth Rhythm Painted Mask

Earth Rhythm begins with a long, rounded silhouette and a face shaped by a raised nose, narrow eyelids and a small, defined mouth. Only Mpofu's painting follows these contours rather than hiding them. Pale lines travel around the cheeks and brow, while a sequence of ivory dots draws the eye down the centre, connecting the domed forehead to the lower edge.

Terracotta diamonds and triangular forms interrupt the dark ground, giving the upper face and sides a measured rhythm. The eyelids carry the same warm colour, and finer pale marks highlight the mouth. Visible brushwork and slight variations in the painted edges keep the hand of the artist present. Seen from an angle, the projecting nose and rounded outline give the pattern a different depth.

At approximately 100 cm high, the mask can become a distinctive accent in a living room, entrance or hospitality setting. Consider a quiet wall and nearby furnishings with simple outlines so the face and geometric painting have room to stand out.
