Wood Slice Chandelier

The Wood Slice Chandelier finds its pattern in the material itself. Individual slices of wood are selected and arranged by hand into a circular base. Dozens of hours were spent placing the slices to create the finished arrangement. That patient work gives the wooden base a clear visual rhythm while allowing the differences between the pieces to remain visible. Three handmade woven lampshades, crafted by artisans in Bali and brought to South Africa, add a softer counterpoint. Their texture and warm light sit alongside the natural wood, creating the tropical feeling of the original design. The circular base and the hanging shades make the chandelier a complete overhead composition.
