Savanna Driftwood Chandelier

The Savanna Driftwood Chandelier begins with a piece of wood shaped by nature. Its movement, curves and raw texture were formed before the material was selected by Artessy. Turning it into a lighting piece gives that distinctive form a new role while keeping its natural character at the centre of the design.

The driftwood is not a regular beam or a repeated manufactured shape. Its individual outline gives the chandelier the presence of a suspended sculpture, with an organic rhythm that cannot be duplicated exactly. In the story of the piece, this wild form suggests grounding, freedom and a reconnection with the natural world.

Five different handcrafted lampshades, made by artisans in Bali and imported to South Africa, hang below the wood. Each contributes its own shape and woven texture. Their warm glow softens the raw driftwood, creating a contrast between the material's weathered movement and the quieter handwork of the shades.
